A sturdy material

HYPALON USES

Hypalon® has been used for over 40 years in many diverse synthetic rubber applications because of its broad assortment of valuable properties. Whether it is used as a protective coating for fabrics, hose and tubing in automobiles, or single ply roofing, Hypalon will effectively resist abrasion, chemicals and the weather to last longer than other materials.
Fabrics with an attractive coating of Hypalon are weather- and water resistant, rugged ...yet are lightweight and easy to handle.
All these qualities make it perfect for use on inflatable boats. Colorful coated fabrics made with Hypalon are used for hatch and boat covers, inflated structures,  and are ideal for quality boating garb, convertible tops and other consumer products.
The properties of Hypalon may be summarized as:
Colorability
Coatings of Hypalon can be brightly and permanently colored, and have excellent resistance to microbiological attack. Under actual exposure conditions (Florida exposure station), coated
fabric samples of Hypalon were weathered for more than 10 years without any noticeable
discoloration.
Superb ozone and weather resistance
Natural aging or oxidation of rubber products is accelerated out of doors by the sun’s heat and ultraviolet rays. Tests show Hypalon has a slow rate of oxidation degradation. Resistance to environmental attack
Properly compounded Hypalon® is not attacked by microorganisms and will not promote the growth of mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria. Outdoor exposure tests of coated fabrics as well
as laboratory tests, conducted according to specification MIL-F-13927-A, substantiate this resistance to microbiological attack.
Resistance to staining and soiling
Controlled soiling tests run on samples of coated fabric show that properly compounded Hypalon is highly resistant to dirt pickup, both from atmospheric deposits and from abrasive contact with soiling agents. This is because deposits that are left on the surface of Hypalon can normally be removed by soap and water. Where necessary, detergents, dry-cleaning fluids, bleaches and other cleansing agents can be used without fear of damage.
Durability
Because of their resilience and abrasion resistance, parts made of Hypalon possess good resistance to impact, crushing, cutting, gouging and other kinds of physical abuse. The broad utility of Hypalon is based in large part on its performance in the many mechanical properties that are desirable in a rubber product. Tests confirm the good resistance of Hypalon to wear and abrasion.
Oil, grease and solvent resistance
Hypalon, when properly compounded, is highly resistant to attack by hydrocarbon oils and fuels. It is also useful in contact with oils at elevated temperatures.

Inflatable boats at work

When we think about inflatable boats we usually have in mind tenders or boats for yachts to bring passenger from the main ship to shore.

Rigid hull inflatables are used in very many different ways as working boats. Even the military forces uses inflatables for rescue missions or to patrol our coasts.

The inflatables played a very important roll when the storm Katrina destroyed the Lousiana and the golf cost region.

They provide support also for divers working to repair underwater hulls.

Aquascan is a boat manufacturing company servicing not only the Yachting community. Special attention is dedicated to working boats.

How to repair a pontoon.

Tube repair

Note: this instruction sheet is for emergency repair of small tears or punctures only. Larger tears or tears which go through a seam will require the assistance of an authorized repair station.

Tools required: sandpaper, masking tape, glue (no older than 6 months), and wooden or soft plastic stick (size and shape of a ruler, but thicker), and a small paintbrush.

Conditions: the repair must be done in the shade, on a low humidity day.
Repairs done on direct sunlight when the outside temperature is over 75 degrees Fahrenheit it will not cure correctly.

Step 1: prepare the area to be patched. Mark an area at least 2″ around the puncture or tear. Apply masking tape outside this area, as protection for the surrounding area. Take a piece of medium grade sandpaper, and sand the area to be patched. It should be sanded just enough for the surface hypalon to be rough (you should not be able to see the grain of the underlying cloth!). Check to make sure the surface is evenly sanded.

Step 2: prepare the patch. Cut a patch that exactly matches the size and shape of the marked area on the boat. Any corners on the patch should be rounded. Sand the backside of the patch so it is roughened. Check to see that it is evenly sanded.

Step 3: apply the glue. With the paintbrush, apply a thin coating of glue to the back of the patch, and to the prepared (sanded) area on the boat. Check to see that the entire surface is coated with glue. Let dry completely (about 5 to 10 minutes). Apply a second coating of glue to the patch and to the prepared area on the boat. Let dry until tacky (almost completely dry).

Step 4: apply the patch. Carefully place the patch on the boat. The two surfaces will stick together as soon as they touch, so make sure the patch is applied correctly the first time. Rub the patch with the wooden stick to remove any air bubbles. Place a hard surface under the boat fabric, and use the stick to rub the patch very hard in sweeping movements to push any air bubbles out to the edge of the patch. Rub the patch until the patch is securely fixed to the boat, and there are no loose edges.

Step 5: curing. Your patch must cure for at least 24 hours before inflating the boat or folding the tube.

Step 6: If you think that the area to be repair is too big do your self a favor and call your boat dealer because if  you mess it up the work require to clean your repair will add up to the final bill.

Floating pool

This is an inflatable pool for yacht it is build in hypalon neoprene same material we use for the inflatable boats.

The hypalon is commercial grade it has an under water enclosure to protect the swimmers.

Yacht owners use the pool in the ocean to be protected from creatures and also as a safety precaution.

The pool has a very soft floor built in hypalon neoprene; hypalon is a very strong material with high resistance
to cuts and abrasions. it can be made in any color or color combination.

An ocean pool has to be strong but very practical too; easy to be put in the water in a jiffy and easy to be pull back on board.

You are swimming in the ocean safe in the containment of the ocean pool . Ideal for little ones and adults.

Boats from the air!

The photographer (and pilot) took off from the Florida airport early in the morning.

This are some pictures from our photo service done from the helicopter.

This is the new Sprinter F 16 Supercharger. There is a lot of space in this jet tender. It is ideal to take people from the ship to shore. It also provide speed and awesome maneuverability in ruff waters. It has been  created to be a service boat that will also provide multiple opportunities for fun and enjoyment.
Notice the configuration of the seats. It seats people very comfortable even when they are tall and have long legs! The extra pad at the bow it is a a specially design front cover to protect you from wind, sun and bad weather.
The boat on the front part of the picture is a Sprinter F14 with a 110HP Yamaha jet engine. It is a tender to a Ferretti yacht. The jet is very fast and responds very well to any maneuver the driver performs. Both tenders have a very good reverse.
Every boat made by +Aquascan are done with the best materials available in the market. Each model is custom made to fit the requirements of the yacht owner and his or her style.

Inflatable boats in the USA market.

Although inflatables are very popular outside of North America the market is very stable with no growth.  This is probably the reason why many more international companies are trying to open the door into the American market, consequentially; consumers will have more and more inflatable boats to choose from.

The RIB was born around 1964 since then its use has expanded. Today Rigid Inflatable Boats are the boat type of choice for many commercial, military operators and widely used in the leisure market. The inflatable is used as all weather lifeboats in some countries.
The development of the RIB has been the most significant in the past 50 years, they have change the way of thinking for many small boat users.

RIBs have grown in size from the early 10ft to 60ft in length. From an open little boat to a RIB with cabin.
The modern RIB can undertake the most arduous seagoing task as well as having the most seaworthy hull for its size.

When you build a normal fiberglass boat the hull and the deck are the only major components. In a good inflatable boat, after you print (construct) the hull and the deck, you have to transform a flat rubber fabric material into a nice round, smooth Seaworthy collar (very intensive artisan work).

The fiberglass hull of an Aquascan inflatable

It is actually much easier to build a decent inflatable, than try to cheat by building a cheap one, where you have to spend more time and effort figuring out where to cut corners and the only one losing is the customer. (The main goal of this publication is not to criticize or honor a certain brand, but to EDUCATE, you the consumer).

The hypalon tubes are made from a roll of fabric
The diameter of the tubes is really not so important, of course from 12 inches to 21 inches there is a big difference, but from 19 to 20 or 21 inches not so much. Probably the tubes that are 19 inches in diameter will give more inside space. If do not intend to overload your boat, it really don’ matter.
Unless the tube has a really small diameter, there’s no way you can put the tubes under water even if the boat is full of water up to the transom.
A good sea-going characteristic of a rigid inflatable boat  is found in the way the tube and the rigid hull interact. These are Stability, Variable geometry and Fendering.
