World Water Day

World Water Day - 22 March

World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day.
Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. In 2013, in reflection of the International Year of Water Cooperation, World Water Day is also dedicated to the theme of cooperation around water and is coordinated by UNESCO in collaboration with UNECE and UNDESA on behalf of UN-Water.

A sturdy material

HYPALON USES

Hypalon® has been used for over 40 years in many diverse synthetic rubber applications because of its broad assortment of valuable properties. Whether it is used as a protective coating for fabrics, hose and tubing in automobiles, or single ply roofing, Hypalon will effectively resist abrasion, chemicals and the weather to last longer than other materials.
Fabrics with an attractive coating of Hypalon are weather- and water resistant, rugged ...yet are lightweight and easy to handle.
All these qualities make it perfect for use on inflatable boats. Colorful coated fabrics made with Hypalon are used for hatch and boat covers, inflated structures,  and are ideal for quality boating garb, convertible tops and other consumer products.
The properties of Hypalon may be summarized as:
Colorability
Coatings of Hypalon can be brightly and permanently colored, and have excellent resistance to microbiological attack. Under actual exposure conditions (Florida exposure station), coated
fabric samples of Hypalon were weathered for more than 10 years without any noticeable
discoloration.
Superb ozone and weather resistance
Natural aging or oxidation of rubber products is accelerated out of doors by the sun’s heat and ultraviolet rays. Tests show Hypalon has a slow rate of oxidation degradation. Resistance to environmental attack
Properly compounded Hypalon® is not attacked by microorganisms and will not promote the growth of mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria. Outdoor exposure tests of coated fabrics as well
as laboratory tests, conducted according to specification MIL-F-13927-A, substantiate this resistance to microbiological attack.
Resistance to staining and soiling
Controlled soiling tests run on samples of coated fabric show that properly compounded Hypalon is highly resistant to dirt pickup, both from atmospheric deposits and from abrasive contact with soiling agents. This is because deposits that are left on the surface of Hypalon can normally be removed by soap and water. Where necessary, detergents, dry-cleaning fluids, bleaches and other cleansing agents can be used without fear of damage.
Durability
Because of their resilience and abrasion resistance, parts made of Hypalon possess good resistance to impact, crushing, cutting, gouging and other kinds of physical abuse. The broad utility of Hypalon is based in large part on its performance in the many mechanical properties that are desirable in a rubber product. Tests confirm the good resistance of Hypalon to wear and abrasion.
Oil, grease and solvent resistance
Hypalon, when properly compounded, is highly resistant to attack by hydrocarbon oils and fuels. It is also useful in contact with oils at elevated temperatures.

Palm Beach Boat Show

Palm Beach Boat Show March 21-24

Palm beach is our home town so there is no way we can not be part of the boat show.
I remember when many years ago we did the first boat show in Palm Beach; the town and the venue where
the show was held where sooo different.

From a very quite and almost old town West Palm Beach is now vibrant and full of activity.
I hope to see many of you at the show and after a day looking at boats you can relax on our white sandy beaches and may be jump in the water for some snorkeling.
The Show is not a big show like Fort Lauderdale or Miami but it has grow and his growing in attendance by vendors and patrons every year.
Aquascan will be presenting the jet tenders gasoline and diesel.

Brunswick Boat Group

Brunswick Boat Group president Andy Graves says the company has not made a decision to sell the Florida plant that is ceasing operation by summertime.

“For us, those are difficult decisions, but necessary ones,” Graves told Trade Only Today on Tuesday. “The size range, 40 to 65 feet, those markets have been significantly impacted post-recession. They did not recover last year. It’s our belief that we’re kicking along the bottom and that we’ll experience a steady recovery.”
Brunswick stopped production at the plant now because the company can support the new model launches of yachts without it and is able to produce Sea Ray cruisers, sport yachts and yachts at a rate 2.5 times current market demand, Graves told Trade Only.
“As we project out over the next three or four years, we think if we have the ability to triple production in our single facility, that’s enough to meet a large number of the potential scenarios in terms of demand,” Graves added. “If the markets rebounded beyond that, we have capital investments. Based on our current views of the marketplace, we think our capacity, particularly in our fiberglass lineup, is appropriate for the way the market’s evolving.”
Brunswick announced Monday that it would suspend yacht production at its Sykes Creek facility in Merritt Island, Fla., and consolidate production at its Palm Coast, Fla., plant. Production will end in June at Sykes Creek, where about 205 people build Sea Ray and Meridian models from 51 to 61 feet.
The laborers at Sykes Creek will have opportunities to work at the Palm Coast plant, Graves said.
“We have available opportunities for our hourly and salary employees at Palm Coast, as well as at other Boat Group sites, most notably at Boston Whaler which is near Sykes Creek," he said. "We hope to employ a large number of the affected employees at these other locations, provided they are able to manage the new commute. Unfortunately, there will be a reduction in employment across both our Sykes Creek salary and hourly employee base as a result of the plant closure."

Whales

A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. Her teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though a whale is a very large mammal, its throat is very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. The teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human, it was impossible.

The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah".

The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"

The little girl replied, "Then you ask him!"  :-)

The New Aquascan 15

Aquascan Storm 15

Inflatable boat Aquascan Techno

This is a boat designed for the serious inflatable boater who knows what he wants and wants a boat that can handle anything it undertakes.
Aquascan has developed the Techno series to serve the needs of the commercial and advanced RIB market.
The Techno 25 is the flagship model, fitting in the middle the 22 to 32' range.

The techno series is designed and built to withstand excessive use and abuse in challenging applications.

The fiberglass construction is doubled in thickness and arranged so as to provide additional strength, flexibility
and durability. With all the strength and durability also comes increased performance, maneuverability and safety. Built to fulfill the customer needs and requirements.

Unique to AQUASCAN is high strength to weight ratio fiberglass hand laid hulls that provide an added level of performance and sea faring ability.
A full fiberglass stringer system and a lengthy curing process help retain precise consistency to ensure top  performance and durability.

The storage areas are part of the non skid deck which provides excellent rigidity and lower maintenance while providing ample storage capability.

The Aquascan rigid inflatable Techno has been used not only by the rescue companies like SeaTow and Tow Boat US but also by the sheriff, police  and park ranger departments of various cities, states and islands.

The Techno demonstrates great versatility as it can be use as a working boat for towing or for diving in both commercial or leisure capacities. The strong construction starts from the inside of the hull with stringers running from bow to stern. The keel is reinforced in many different ways; depending on the intended use of the inflatable boat.
The tubes are constructed with commercial grade hypalon of 1600 Denier  thickness (Hypalon fabric thickness is graded with the term Denier) with several reinforced points situated strategically. Aquascan maintains the full customization capability even for this type of RIB.

Even with such a sturdy construction, this line of Inflatables quickly reaches plane and is incredibly responsive and stable.

Every aspect of this boat is customizable.

You may choose to have a Kevlar hull or two built-in fuel tanks, single or twin engines (we even have customers who do triple engine configurations to increase their torque potential for their towing capabilities).
A lot of time is spent by Aquascan to ensure that all details are given special attention to.
