Brunswick Boat Group

Brunswick Boat Group president Andy Graves says the company has not made a decision to sell the Florida plant that is ceasing operation by summertime.

“For us, those are difficult decisions, but necessary ones,” Graves told Trade Only Today on Tuesday. “The size range, 40 to 65 feet, those markets have been significantly impacted post-recession. They did not recover last year. It’s our belief that we’re kicking along the bottom and that we’ll experience a steady recovery.”
Brunswick stopped production at the plant now because the company can support the new model launches of yachts without it and is able to produce Sea Ray cruisers, sport yachts and yachts at a rate 2.5 times current market demand, Graves told Trade Only.
“As we project out over the next three or four years, we think if we have the ability to triple production in our single facility, that’s enough to meet a large number of the potential scenarios in terms of demand,” Graves added. “If the markets rebounded beyond that, we have capital investments. Based on our current views of the marketplace, we think our capacity, particularly in our fiberglass lineup, is appropriate for the way the market’s evolving.”
Brunswick announced Monday that it would suspend yacht production at its Sykes Creek facility in Merritt Island, Fla., and consolidate production at its Palm Coast, Fla., plant. Production will end in June at Sykes Creek, where about 205 people build Sea Ray and Meridian models from 51 to 61 feet.
The laborers at Sykes Creek will have opportunities to work at the Palm Coast plant, Graves said.
“We have available opportunities for our hourly and salary employees at Palm Coast, as well as at other Boat Group sites, most notably at Boston Whaler which is near Sykes Creek," he said. "We hope to employ a large number of the affected employees at these other locations, provided they are able to manage the new commute. Unfortunately, there will be a reduction in employment across both our Sykes Creek salary and hourly employee base as a result of the plant closure."

Yacht tenders and jet boats!

luxury yacht tender is a transport used to service and to provide support and entertainment to a private or charter yacht. Known commonly as the 'yacht's tender' a luxury yacht tender will often be a rigid inflatable (RIB) which features cushioned inflatable rubber inner tubes around its rigid hull to protect the yacht when in close contact.
Other types of luxury yacht tender include inflatable boats, which are almost completely synthetic rubber or plastic; center console boats, and also rigid inflatable boats (RIB's) which are usually constructed from materials such as fiberglass, wood, steel or aluminum with inflatable synthetic rubber or plastic pontoons. Multifunction dinghies have recently become available as yacht tenders. These dinghies can be rowed, motored, or sailed, and they also function as proactive lifeboats. Tenders are usually powered by outboard motor engines or inboard engines burning either gasoline or diesel. They use either propellers or more recently impellers as utilized by water jet boats.

Luxury yacht tenders like other types of ship's tender, often used to transport supplies and personnel, are also used for the entertainment and pleasure of the yacht's passengers. Accordingly, the tenders will be employed as pleasure craft or speed boats and for water skiing, wake boarding and also to transport and service leisure scuba set diving.

Yacht tenders are also used as safety boats in case of an emergency, they will not substitute the life raft but it is a nice addition to the safety equipment on board.
In recent years there has been increased development in the luxury yacht tender market. There is now greater importance given to whether a yacht includes a large tender which boasts all the latest features. Private yachts are being built with stern garages which house the tender and also other associated 'water toys'. Powerful davits are installed on the yacht’s decks to mechanically lift increasingly heavier tenders.
Going to the wedding with a tender!
There are many companies which specialize in the design, construction and distribution of luxury yacht tenders. Some of the more established, and well known, suppliers for production and semi production tenders then others.
The increasing trend towards large custom tenders such as limousines, landing craft and chase boats is supported by classic boat builders. Because there is now a large and established tender industry, yacht tenders are also increasingly being used more widely by those who do not own or use yachts, but wish to enjoy their tender as an entertainment in its own right.

Jet Tenders and rigid hull inflatables!

What makes Aquascan different??

To better serve their customers, Aquascan is on a constant pursuit for perfection. “Good Enough” isn't good enough for their customers.

"40 years ago the first inflatable boat was invented with the purpose of safely and easily navigating the sea.

After all these years, we are always trying to re-invent the inflatable boat. Our knowledge base of the technical aspects of construction, the physics of buoyancy and the advancements in safety, far surpass those of the past. We like to stay ahead of the curve and move ahead.

We know more but not all, so in the pursuit of a better product, we constantly study and look for new techniques and stay on top of our customers’ needs.
There are a lot of inflatable boats out there but they are not all the same.
Mindless and repetitive assembly line production is not the way we do things. All of our vessels are intimately hand crafted with the mission of satisfying all our customer’s needs and wants."

The fiberglass hull is carefully made by hand; every single layer of fiberglass or Kevlar is carefully positioned. Not one boat is identical to the other; this is by choice, since every customer has different needs related not only to their taste and navigation style, but also their individual needs to perfectly fit the tender on their yacht.

"So when we say custom made yacht tender, we really mean custom made."
Each tube is carefully designed with the best fabric and material available in the market. It does not matter if we have to search around the world for the right materials that go into the fabrication of the inflatable boat.
A unique yacht tender made for you!

Fort Lauderdale boat show 2012.

The Fort Lauderdale boat show started as schedule on October 25.
Despite our good friend tropical storm Sandy every one was ready to work and to display the best product to the public.

Aquascan at FLIBS is presenting several Jet Tender and rigid inflatable boats.
Aquascan is the only American company manufacturing rigid inflatable boats jet power in the USA!
 And very proud of it!
So with all the excitement of the first day who thinks about storms?
In Florida storms are very common and every one  was to busy to think about our friend Sandy the tropical storm.
Guess what! It was a big problem, this is a picture of how we worked the first day at the show.

But in Florida storms comes and goes so after the storm comes the nice weather so with a lot of wind and sun we are to our normal day at the show.
A Supercharge jet tender.

Fort Lauderdale boat Show

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the "Yachting Capital of the World" will host the 53rd Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show on October 25-29, 2012.
Aquascan will present the redesigned Sprinter F16 jet tender among other RIB tenders.

Over the last few years, many companies have either closed their doors (like Nautica International) or have moved their facilities overseas.
Aquascan on the other hand is still alive and well, continuing to produce high quality performance RIBS in our Fort Lauderdale plant.
Not only that, but we have also just opened up a new fiberglass and metal shop in West Palm Beach, FL. We are now the only RIB manufacturer in the Western hemisphere that produces jet RIBS, both gasoline and diesel.
Being a family company has made it easier to adapt to the new and always changing requirement from our customers, with that in mind we created 4DYDesign.
4DYDESIGN is the only full service interior design firm to follow the tenets of Feng Shui. Capable of providing a full array of design services not only for traditional residences, but also for the discerning yachting community.
This year you can find us on land at Bahia Mar at #1023 and in the Yacht Builders /Designers tent #0729.
